Researchers find placebo treatments effective

Researchers say there is evidence that shows the so-called placebo effect is at work in recovery from the common cold.

Scientists gave patients fake "treatments."

The patients believed they got the "real" thing and it shortened the duration of the cold.

Scientists add, if the treatment you believe in -- from chicken soup to vitamin C -- is unlikely to do any harm, you might as well stick with it.
