Off-duty Chicago cop accused in dog killing

July 14, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Sherry Chomer says it happened about 1:30 Thursday morning after she let her dog "Samson" out in the backyard.

She says the officer was walking by with two dogs when the animals all started fighting as Samson got out of the yard. Chomer says the officer pulled out his gun and shot Samson three times. She says the officer's dogs were not hurt and ran off.

"I was like, Where's your dog? If it got attacked, and he said his dog ran scared, and I asked for the dog to be produced," said Chomer.

Chomer believes her neighbor is being protected because he is a police officer.

The police department says it is investigating the incident.
