Eating too much? Try a bigger fork

Numerous studies have focused on portion sizes and their influence on how much we eat.

A report in the Journal of Consumer Research looked at how bite sizes affect quantities ingested.

For those people eating in a restaurant setting, the big utensil helped them eat less.

Those taking part in the study said the smaller fork gave them the feeling they were not making much progress clearing their plate. So researchers say they over compensated by eating more of the food on their plate.
