ComEd restores all power as heat wave rolls in

July 17, 2011 (CHICAGO)

A storm knocked out electricity to more than 850,000 customers last Monday. ComEd brought in work crews from across the country to help restore the outage. It took days to restore power for everyone. On Saturday night, 500 people still did not have power.

Chicago's North Avenue Beach was packed with people trying to stay cool Sunday afternoon.

There were many outdoor events this weekend, including the third annual Lincoln Park Arts and Music Festival. Folks stayed cool with light weight clothing and plenty of water.

The heat wave is expected to last several days.
