Delta Airlines is cutting service to 24 U.S. cities.

The air carrier blames high fuel costs and an annual $14 million loss of revenue for the cuts. Affected cities are in Alabama, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Delta has filed a 90-day notice to terminate service to the cities. It's also retiring some planes that allowed the airline to fly small numbers of passengers.
