There could be a change on the way for Chicago's curfew for children under 12 years old.

The Chicago City Council Public Safety Committee passed a measure Thursday that would require children to be inside their homes at 8:30 p.m. on weekdays and 9 p.m. on weekends.

The parents of children who violate the proposed curfew could be slapped with fines of up to $1,500.

The full City Council will vote on the ordinance next week
