Heat lamps add to high temps for Park Hyatt picketers

Besides dealing with the hot weather union workers on a one day strike in front of the Park Hyatt in Chicago picketed under heat lamps.

The 10 heat lamps are usually off during the summer. But they were turned on for an hour and added to the already extreme conditions in front of the hotel.

Hyatt management says they were not aware the lamps were on. They had the lamps quickly turned off and distributed water to everyone in front of the hotel.

The union and management have been in difficult negotiations for the past two years on a new contract for housekeepers and other hotel workers.
