Gregory Jones died two days after being hit while crossing a street in Humboldt Park. Jones' relative, Datondra Mitchell, was also injured but she survived.
The settlement calls for $5.9 million to go to Jones' family. Mitchell, who is now 18 years old, will receive $590,000.
The settlement means there will not be a federal trial in the case.
