A group of Chicago police officers traveled to Springfield to attend the parole hearing of a prisoner who killed an officer in 1973.

Officers boarded a charter bus at police headquarters early Thursday morning for the trip to Springfield.

Joseph Bigsby was tried and convicted for the murder of Edward Barron and the attempted murder of a second police officer.

Police attended Bigsby's parole hearing to make sure he serves his full sentence. In the end, Bigsby's parole was denied.
