Study examines merits of mammograms

Breast cancer deaths are down, and a new report says mammograms have little to do with the falling numbers.

That's the latest from a study in the British Medical Journal that's sure to fuel the long running debate over the merits of mammograms.

Researchers analyzed data from countries in Europe and found even though some areas had screening programs earlier than others declines in death rates were similar.

They claim it's less about getting mammograms and more about the treatments and efficacy of health care that's making a difference in saving lives.
