Falling in love might improve sports skills

When you're in love, you have a better overall sense of well being and may feel more energized. That could lead to better athletic performance.

Researchers at California State University in San Bernardino studied nearly 400 athletes, from college players to Olympians. When asked whether being in love helped their athletic skills, more than half answered "yes."

The effect appeared to be stronger in men than women, and it applied to individual sports, as opposed to team sports.

The results were presented at the American Psychological Association meeting.
