Charges dropped in shooting of 2 cops

Charges were dismissed against Daniel Jones in connection with the shooting of two Chicago police officers on July 18 on the city's West Side.

Two Chicago police officers were wounded in a shooting after witnessing an alleged drug transaction on the city's West Side. One took a bullet to his head, the other to his arm.

Jones, 27, was charged just a few days later. Charges agAinst Jones were brought "in good faith based on witness accounts and identifications," according to a statement from the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, but further investigation led to the dismissal of those charges on Tuesday.

The case remains open and the investigation is ongoing.
