Group pushes for healthier chocolate milk

August 24, 2011

While chocolate milk contains calcium and vitamins, it also comes with added sugars.

The industry group behind the nation's "Got Milk?" campaign says fat-free and low-fat chocolate milk served in schools will soon contain less sugar and calories. The Milk Processor Education Program says 8 ounce cartons of chocolate milk will contain 38 percent less sugar and less than 150 calories.

The healthier chocolate milk is expected to be available for the nation's schools next month.
