MLK memorial dedication, church group trip postponed

August 26, 2011 (CHICAGO)

A group from St. Sabina Parish was all packed and ready to go when they received word that the trip was canceled. They had gathered at the South Side Catholic Church last night with their luggage in hand waiting for the buses to take them to Washington.

After they learned that Hurricane Irene canceled the dedication ceremony for the King memorial, they formed a prayer circle to pray for those who are being affected by the hurricane.

The group, which includes both young and old members of the parish, plans to make the trip once the ceremony is rescheduled. Memorial project president and CEO Harry Johnson said the memorial will be dedicated in September or October.
