Officials with the Wilmette Fire Department say they responded to a person missing in the water just after 5 p.m. Saturday. Wilmette crews, along with crews from Winnetka, Glenview and Evanston, performed a water search to try to locate the victim. The Wilmette Fire Chief also requested aid from the U.S. Coast Guard and the Chicago Fire Department.
Officials say divers recovered the victim 200 yards south from where he was last seen. He was transported to Evanston Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Tristan Shambee of Evanston. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
