As of 4:30 p.m., the left two lanes of the outbound Kennedy were closed.
At least one person was pulled from one on the cars and placed in an ambulance.
The cause of the crash is not known but was backing up traffic.
Around the same time, a car apparently rear-ended a truck on the Edens Expressway near Tower Road. Illinois State Police say there are minor injuries.
As of 5 p.m., two southbound lanes on the Edens were closed near Tower Road.
