Classes are canceled Friday for the district's 19 elementary schools that do not have air conditioning. All other schools in the district will operate normally.
Principals from each of the affected schools sent out emails and phone calls to parents.
"I guess it was just too much today that they decided to close for tomorrow because it is not going to cool off," said Meghan Pufundt, parent.
The temperature is expected to reach 95 degrees on Friday.
