Young brothers make float for Labor Day parade

September 2, 2011 (SCHAUMBURG, Ill.)

In most parades, the floats will be sponsored by local businesses or organizations. Schaumburg's will include one special family float.

Several neighborhood children are helping the Wong brothers finish their entry. Eric, 9, and Mitchell,12, wrote to Schaumburg's parade committee, asking to make their own float. "Cuz that's our favorite part of the whole entire season so we decided why don't we try to do a float ourselves," Eric Wong said. "Rather than saying to them, 'You know what, there's no way this will happen,' we wanted to encourage them to follow their vision and their dream," said the brothers' mom Cindy Wong. They are building a giant baseball cap, one half Chicago Cubs and one half White Sox.
