Naperville church members honored for rescuing boy

Sept. 6, 2011 (GENEVA, Ill.)

On August 5, the men were on a bike ride along the Fox River when they saw two people trapped in the boil below the Geneva dam. One was a 12-year-old boy and the other was 57-year-old Randy Suchy who had jumped in to try and save the child.

"We went into the river and tried to reach the swimmers. They went under before we could get to them and then after some time emerged out of the bottom of the boil," said Rev. Clint Roberts, Knox Presbyterian Church.

The boy survived, but Suchy drowned.
