6-year-old injured in hit-and-run, $1K reward

Sept. 7, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Georgina Vargas was walking to school with her mother when she was hit by a car near 47th and Washtenaw Tuesday morning.

Her family is at her hospital bedside. The first grader suffered several bone fractures.

The community group Uno is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

"You can't beat the eyes of communities and people who were around must have seen something, must have heard something," said Juan Rangel, Uno.

The girl's mother says the accident happened so quickly she didn't get a look at the driver. But she says the car was red.
