Gov't survey: More Americans smoking marijuana

September 8, 2011

According to a new government survey, nearly 7 percent of Americans aged 12 or older used marijuana in 2010. That's 3 million more users than a decade earlier.

Meth use has plunged by about half, and cocaine use is down sharply in the last few years.

The annual survey by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration also found declines in tobacco use and binge drinking among teens.
