Man in custody after armed standoff in Northbrook

A more than three-hour-long standoff in Northbrook ended peacefully with police taking one man into custody.

It apparently all began as an argument between a 51-year-old man and his aging parents. When the argument heated up, police say the son fired a gun inside the home.

Since the man's father told police his son had a large collection of weapons, a swat team was called.

Police also evacuated some nearby homes and a school. Police eventually persuaded the man to surrender. Charges are now pending.
