On Tuesday, Governor Pat Quinn toured the set of the next Superman movie, "Man of Steel," which is filming in the Chicago area.
The governor said the spending is a 54 percent increase over the 2009 total. Quinn disclosed that the superman movie has hired 550 area residents.
"Having a big movie like 'Man of Steel' being made here in the State of Illinois is really a shot-in-the-arm for our economy, and we want to keep it going. We want to have even a better year this year if we can," Gov. Quinn said.
"Our sets are like families. And to have this extended family-- and to feel welcomed-- that's what's a really special part of being here," said Deborah Snyder, Man of Steel.
The cast of "Man of Steel" includes Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Amy Adams, and Laurence Fishburne.
