Fire, possible explosion at Chicago ComEd facility

September 14, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Some ComEd equipment apparently caught fire.

It's unclear what sparked this fire or if anyone is hurt. Heavy, black smoke could be seen rising from the fire.

A still-and-box alarm and Level I HazMat alarm were called as a precaution just after 7 a.m., Fire Media Affairs spokesman Rich Rosado said.

Unconfirmed dispatch reports said the fire started in a transformer in an electrical plant complex.
