Good news for homeowners in northwest suburban Schaumburg: Village officials are recommending a lower property tax levy.

This will be the village's third property tax levy, and officials say they want to see it reduced by 6.1 percent from last year, to $21.3 million.

The village approved the first property tax levy in 2009 for $23.7 million.

Village trustees say the reduction is due in part to improvements in other revenues areas, including sales tax.
