The Greater Chicago Food Depository released numbers Wednesday on what it calls "food insecurity." Overall, Chicago has a food insecurity rate of 20.6 percent.
Both the Englewood and North Lawndale communities had rates of 31.2 percent. That contrasts with the Lakeview neighborhood, which has a food insecurity rate of 9.7 percent.
The food depository plans to use the study to improve it hunger-fighting efforts. It distributed 69 million pounds of food last year.
