The students reportedly were taking part in cheerleading practice at Lane Elementary School when several of them complained of shortness of breath.
Ambulances were called and four girls between the ages of 11 and 12 were taken to the hospital.
There was no word on their conditions Wednesday night.
Emergency crews tested the air in the gym and it was OK, but the gym is being aired out as a precaution.
