The Matthew and Carolyn Bucksbaum family foundation is pledging $42 million to the university. A news conference about the donation is scheduled for later Thursday morning.
The money will create the Bucksbaum Institute for Clinical Excellence, which will work to improve doctor- patient communication.
Carolyn Bucksbaum received a standing ovation when she was introduced.
