Several Chicago Public Schools students had to be hospitalized Thursday after they were sickened by fumes.

It happened at Julian High School on the Far South Side.

Workers were putting tar on the roof and fumes got into the ventilation system. Some students were treated at the scene.

Eight were taken to area hospitals.

All are in fair to good condition.
