Cell phone users warned about ID theft scams

A major credit bureau is warning cell phone and smart phone users to be on high alert for ID theft scams spreading through text messages and voicemails.

Transunion says the ruse involves phone users receiving a message stating that their credit card has been deactivated. They are then asked to call a number where a recorded message asks the caller for their 16-digit card number and more personal information.

Transunion says anyone who gets one of these messages should immediately call their bank or credit card company.
