The ceremony was held at Rosehill Cemetery on the North Side, and it included bell-ringing, music by the fire department bagpipers and a parade of flags.
Those attending the ceremony paid tribute to active duty and retired firefighters and paramedics who died during the past year.
This is the 29th year for the memorial, which was organized by Local 2 of the Chicago Firefighters Union.
