The attack happened Friday in a field behind a Home Depot store in suburban Orland Park.
Prosecutors say the victim tried to help 34-year-old Dennis Dodson, who is homeless. She gave him food and money, and sought help to find him a place to live one day before the alleged attack.
Dodson is charged with criminal sexual assault.
The woman was treated at south suburban hospital for her injuries.
