A new study from finds that banks are increasing fees.

Last year, the majority of checking accounts were without fees. This year, only 45 percent of non-interest checking accounts are free.

Another fee on the rise is the charge to withdraw money from ATMs that don't belong to your bank. Banks now charge an average of $2 and 40 cents. That's up 7 cents from last year.
