4 school buses charred by Elgin fire

September 30, 2011 (UNINCORPORATED ELGIN, Ill.)

Chopper 7HD was over the charred buses earlier early Friday morning right behind the Prairie View School on Nesler Road.

Police say when they arrived on the scene, all four buses were fully engulfed. The fire was quickly extinguished, and firefighters even sprayed foam on the buses at to get out some hot spots.

"Definitely very suspicious. Four buses in the middle of parking lot in the middle of the night aren't usually going to catch fire by themselves. We're actively investigating the incident. It's very suspicious," said Pat Gengler, Kane County Sheriff's Department.

No damage was done to the school, and officials say the incident did not impact transportation to and from school Friday.

Anyone with information is advised to call the Kane County Sheriff's Department.
