Chicago Foundation for Women

October 1, 2011

The foundation believes whole communities are made better, when women and girls are secure. Chicago Foundation for Women (cfw.org) president and CEO K. Sujata joined us with more about the foundation's mission:

Chicago Foundation for Women raises money to fund and support organizations that help women and girls--it's all about making smarter connections between need, money and solutions. We believe that when women and girls are secure, whole communities are made better. We are a community of people who share the excitement of giving to help women and girls thrive. We improve the lives of women and girls through grants, advocacy, leadership development, and public and grantee education. Since 1985, we have given more than 2,900 grants totaling nearly $19 million and helped thousands of women and girls become philanthropists.

Our grants focus on three strategies to improve women's and girls' lives:
  • Expanding economic security
  • Ensuring freedom from violence
  • Enhancing access to health services and information
We value -- in ourselves and every organization we support -- the core principles of equality, empowerment, diversity, collaboration and integrity.

CFW 26TH ANNUAL LUNCHEON

Chicago Foundation for Women's Annual Luncheon celebrates the achievements of women and girls by bringing together a diverse audience of more than 2,000 guests who represent business, philanthropy, government, nonprofit, media and community members. Proceeds help the Foundation achieve its mission to connect need, money and solutions for women and girls throughout metropolitan Chicago.

The luncheon takes places Monday, October 3rd at 11 a.m. at the Hilton Chicago at 720 S. Michigan Ave. Tickets are $150 each.

This year, Chicago Foundation for Women is honored to welcome Emmy-winning actress and activist America Ferrera as the luncheon keynote speaker. Ferrera is a strong voice for a new generation of American women. Buy tickets or tables now at cfw.org!
