Americans impulsive when eating out

A survey conducted last year by the food research firm "Technomic" indicates food choices are still being made on impulse, not intellect. While 47-percent of Americans say they want healthier items like salads, only 23-percent tend to order those foods.

Most restaurants don't share specifics about how their healthier options are doing, but according to the Associated Press, the healthy choices appears to be only a small proportion of the revenue at most chains.
