William Wright, 20, appeared in court Friday night where he was charged with attempted murder.
Investigators say at about 9:15 p.m. Thursday an officer was shot in the thigh as he chased Wright and three other suspects to question them about a report of shots fired .
The shooting occurred at 132nd and Langley on the city's Far South Side.
The officer is home from the hospital.
