A high-ranking Chicago gang member is sentenced to 40 years in federal prison for giving orders to commit violence in the city's Little Village neighborhood.

Fernando King's sentence will run concurrently with a 20 year prison term he is already serving for a narcotics conviction.

King was a leader within the Latin Kings, which police say was behind a string of violent crimes in the Little Village community.

King had asked the judge for leniency, saying he was trying to distance himself from the gang.
