The environmental health advocacy group "Clean and Healthy New York" says it surveyed more than two dozen companies that make crib mattresses. It found that 72 percent of those crib mattresses contain at least one potentially-harmful chemical. Those chemicals include ones used for waterproofing and flame retardants.
The group is calling for new federal standards to limit the use of many chemicals in crib mattresses.
