Mary Ann Malik of Riverside faces a felony charge of filing a false police report. She told investigators that she was attacked in an alley behind her apartment last Tuesday after leaving the Metra station at long common crossing.
Police increased patrols after the report and area residents held a rally.
Investigators say the false report was a ploy to get a family member to move back in with her.
