Whooping cough outbreak goes beyond schools

A whooping cough outbreak in McHenry County now goes beyond schools.

The highly contagious bacterial infection started affecting students more than a month ago.

The county health department now reports 79 cases. That's double the number from just a few days ago.

The outbreak is reported in 12 communities with 35 cases in Cary.

People affected range in age from 3 months to 35 years.
