Sixty-nine-year-old Robert Gonzales was found severely beaten in the driveway behind the bar in October of 2009.
Officers found Gonzales while responding to a burglar alarm call at the tavern, O'Lanagan's Bar and Grill on Montrose.
A 25-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was charged overnight after being arrested in Harwood Heights.
Police are also looking for a second suspect.
