Marchers protest proposed police station closing

November 14, 2011 (CHICAGO)

They delivered 3,500 signatures from people who oppose the closing of the 13th District police station in the 900-block of North Wood.

Many of the letters are from school students who wrote that the station keeps them safe from gangs and that they want it to stay.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel is proposing to close the station to save the city money.

The mayor's office has not returned calls for a comment.
