Terry Bratcher was found guilty in September of robbing and then suffocating Carl Kuhn in August of 2009.
Prosecutors say Bratcher and another man, Keith Allen, went to Kuhn's home in unincorporated Bartlett to steal his gun collection.
Allen pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 46 years in prison.
