Mayor Rahm Emanuel says more than 1,300 jobs would be created by proposed expansion at Chicago's Northwestern Hospital.

The hospital is planning to open a 1 million square foot outpatient care pavilion in the Streeterville community in 2014. The project would recreate 700 construction jobs and more than 650 permanent health care jobs.

"This new outpatient facility will again continue Chicago's leadership, creating jobs today," said Emanuel.

The project still has to be okayed by the city zoning committee, the City Council and state regulators.
