Raw cookie dough should only be popped into the oven. Not your mouth.

CDC researchers are advising people to bake their cookies before eating them. That's one of the top lessons from the 2009 E.coli outbreak in refrigerated Nestle Toll House cook dough products.

A report in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases also says the issue is bigger than one brand and shouldn't eat raw cookie dough no matter who makes it. As for what ingredient sickened 77 people in 30 states, investigators ultimately settled on flour as the likely culprit.
