Boil order in East Chicago

December 12, 2011 4:36:06 AM PST
The entire town of East Chicago, Ind., was under a boil order over the weekend.

All 30,000 residents were being told to boil their water for at least five minutes on Sunday night.

The cause is a break in a 24-inch water main at Alder Street and Columbus Drive. The problem was discovered about 6 a.m. It is causing residents to have low water pressure and, in some cases no water at all.

The boil order is in effect for at least 48 hours.
