Pictures released Monday show a dog that was allegedly abandoned by its owner and then attacked.

The dog is named "Isis." It is currently in the care of Chicago Animal Care and Control.

An East Garfield Park woman faces misdemeanor animal cruelty charges for allegedly letting the dog run free after learning her new residence did not allow pets.

The dog was then attacked in the street by neighborhood kids.

Animal Care and Control says it has received about a dozen calls from people concerned about the dog, wanting to adopt it or make sure it is taken care of by someone.

Animal Control also points out that it has about 50 other dogs available for adoption. Several of those have also been abused and need loving homes.
