Report: Overweight people may have balance issues

Falls are often seen as a problem for thin, frail older people since their bones are especially prone to fractures. But researchers now say obesity carries its own risks.

A report in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society says people who are overweight may have a harder time with balance.

Also, when obese people lose their footing, they may be less able to react and stop themselves from taking a spill.

But the most severely overweight were also less likely to be injured if they did fall down.
