The woman apparently wanted a closer look at the elephants. Witnesses say she got close enough to pet them.
Concerned onlookers yelled at the woman to get away from the nervous pachyderms. She was in the elephant sanctuary for at least five minutes before leaving.
The woman wasn't hurt.
Police arrived and took her to a hospital for mental health treatment.
